Birkey’s Closes Acquisition of Interstate Center Property in Bloomington
BLOOMINGTON, IL – December 1, 2009 – Birkey’s Farm Store, Inc. announced today that it has closed on the acquisition of the Interstate Center facility in Bloomington, IL. Interstate Center, Inc. is leasing back a large portion of the facility to continue to host current contracted events and those scheduled for the future.
“This will be a unique partnership that will focus on our connection with the agricultural as well as the non-ag community. They’ll be a great neighbor to work with on these common goals. As far as Birkey’s is concerned, it’s a great opportunity for the company to expand our facility needs to meet the growing demand in the McLean County market for both agriculture and construction equipment. Plans are to close our operations at the Hudson store next summer. A specific date will be announced later, as the date to complete our renovations to the Interstate Center is pending,” said Birkey’s president and CEO Ron Birkey. “The central Illinois Bloomington location will be a great fit with our organization.” Also, the Hudson Grain Company has entered into an agreement to take possession of the Birkey’s Hudson, IL facility next summer as well.
In addition to the Bloomington location, Birkey’s also serves the Illinois communities of Annawan, Galesburg, Macomb, Polo, Prophetstown, Gibson City, Hoopeston, Urbana, Mattoon, Oakland, and Williamsport, Indiana. The company also operates a Chrysler automotive dealership in Attica, Indiana, and has a Jacobsen golf & turf store in St. Louis, Missouri. Their administrative office is located in Rantoul, Illinois.
