12 Quick Pre-Season Precision Tips

Planting with precision doesn’t happen by purchasing the latest technology. Proper equipment setup and pre-season planning will help you get the most from your precision farming equipment. Here are a few tips from our Precision Farming Department to get you started in the right direction this spring.

  1. Delete last year’s data from your display once a backup or copy has been made.
  2. Start the year with a new or clean memory device.
  3. Enter all of your operation’s Grower, Farm and Field names for consistent record keeping.

  5. Check the roll calibration of your tractor to guarantee proper autoguidance performance.
  6. With the planter attached to the tractor, check guess row spacing on each side of the planter to achieve proper row spacing across the field.
  7. Check implement and section control measurements for acceptable automatic shutoff and turn-on settings.
  8. Enter varieties as products in your planter display for precise variety tracking in the fall.
  9. Load planter prescription maps.
