“I’ve been farming since 2009 on our family farm,” Jeremy Flikkema shares. “My grandpa started the farm almost 70 years ago; currently, my dad, Alan, brother, Chris, and myself operate the farm.”

Flikkema Farms is very diversified, farming corn, soybeans, wheat, hay, and raising feeder to finish cattle.

“Birkey’s has helped us be more productive,” Jeremy says. “The machines they offer fit our operation, whether we’re raising crops or feeding cattle. Their support of their products; parts department; and service department are second-to-none… they find the problem and fix it, no matter what. Our salesman, Bruce Setterstrom, helps us get the right machine for the job.”

Flikkema Farms used to “run all green”—but they made the switch to Case IH equipment because of Birkey’s. “The support Birkey’s offers is why we’ve gone to nearly all red… their parts and service availability and knowledge is a huge decision-making factor when we buy a new machine.”

Recently, Flikkema Farms purchased an 8250 combine. “It’s been a great addition,” Jeremy says. “The first day, my dad said, ‘they fixed everything they needed to from the 8240.’ They made all the right improvements.” Jeremy says their Steiger 580 Quadtrac has made their tillage much more efficient. “We’re excited to get a Miller Nitro Sprayer from Birkey’s soon and hopefully improve our sprayer efficiency.”

Farming is much more than a day job to the Flikkema family. “Farming is a profession driving society,” Jeremy states. “So many jobs not only revolve around agriculture, but so many jobs are able to be done in a society with production agriculture. The ability to do work not revolving on finding food allows for more innovations and technological advancements in all aspects of our society.”
