Case IH History

To find the beginning of Case IH, we have to go pretty far back in time. All the way back to 1842. The Union still only consisted of 26 states--whose loyalties were about to be tested--and industrialization was truly hitting its stride. Upon first opening, the company was known as Racine Threshing Machine Works, first founded by Jerome Increase Case. Five years later, Cyrus McCormick created the McCormick Harvesting Machine Company, which would later be shortened to International Harvester (IH). Both of these businesses were immensely successful, and each new machine helped advance the industry, step by step.

 

The official Case IH company didn’t come about until 1985 when JI Case (formerly Racine Threshing Machine Works) acquired the agricultural division of International Harvester. The first product they produced combined the skills and expertise from both companies to produce the Magnum™ tractor. The company continues to offer this line of tractors today, which are built with the innovation you’d expect from a business with nearly 200 years of experience to back them.
